Financial Controller

Your new company A leading independent insurance business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its London-based finance leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, qualified accountant to play a key role within a growing, entrepreneurial insurance organisation operating across multiple specialist underwriting businesses.Your new role Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the financial reporting activities across multiple insurance entities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
\n
• Oversee statutory reporting under IFRS and group reporting to an international parent company.
\n
• Maintain and enhance the financial control framework, ensuring strong governance and compliance.
\n
• Manage the year-end audit process and build effective relationships with external auditors.
\n
• Provide technical accounting expertise across areas including revenue recognition, acquisitions and share-based payments.
\n
• Partner with underwriting, claims and operations teams to deliver meaningful management information and analysis.
\n
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial planning activities.
\n
• Oversee transactional finance processes, including payroll and insurance accounting activities.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement and finance change initiatives across the business.
\n

What you'll need to succeed

\n
• Qualified accountant (ACA) with significant post-qualified experience.
\n
• Background within insurance, reinsurance, MGA or wider financial services environments.
\n
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise, ideally gained within a Top 10 or Big 4 audit firm and/or industry.
\n
• Experience managing audits and operating within a robust control environment.
\n
• Commercially minded with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
\n
• Hands-on, detail-oriented and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving business.
\n
• Proven track record of improving processes and delivering change.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n
