The Role

\n

An experienced School Business Manager is required to provide temporary cover during a period of absence. This is a key role within the school's leadership and administration team, responsible for ensuring the efficient management of the school's financial, operational and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the school's financial operations including budgeting, forecasting and monitoring expenditure.
  • \n
  • Process purchase orders, invoices and payments in line with school financial procedures.
  • \n
  • Prepare financial reports and provide budgetary information to senior leaders and governors.
  • \n
  • Oversee payroll liaison and staff absence records.
  • \n
  • Manage contracts, procurement and supplier relationships.
  • \n
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and HR administration processes.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, school policies and safeguarding procedures.
  • \n
  • Monitor health and safety compliance across the school site.
  • \n
  • Lead on administrative systems and processes to ensure operational efficiency.

Person Specification

Essential:

\n

  • Previous experience working as a School Business Manager, Finance Manager or similar role within an educational setting.
  • \n
  • Strong financial management and budget monitoring experience.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of school finance systems and processes.
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • \n

Desirable:

  • School Business Management qualification or equivalent.

  • Experience working within a primary school setting.
