REGIONAL DIRECTOR - BUILDING SURVEYING

\n\nROLE OVERVIEW
\nThis role is for an experienced MRICS qualified Chartered Surveyor ready to lead a regional Building Surveying function within a growing consultancy.
\nYou will manage and develop a Midlands / North based team delivering consultancy services across residential and commercial portfolios. The role combines technical authority, team leadership and commercial accountability.
\nYou will lead from the front across major works, compliance led instructions and advisory services, shaping team performance, client relationships and regional growth with clear responsibility for fee income and profitability.
\n\nROLE EXPECTATIONS
\nYou will lead and motivate a team of Building Surveyors, ensuring consistent technical standards, delivery quality and commercial efficiency.
\nYou will take ownership of recruitment, mentoring, utilisation and growth planning.
\nAlongside leadership duties, you will continue to deliver senior level technical work and maintain strong client relationships.
\nYou will actively support business development and promote departmental services across the wider group.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME
\nMost weeks, you’ll be:
\n- \n
- Managing and developing a team of Building Surveyors \n
- Acting as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on projects typically ranging from £50k to £3m+ \n
- Providing authoritative advice on building defects and construction issues \n
- Preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance and lifecycle reports \n
- Undertaking reinstatement cost assessments and condition surveys \n
- Completing Building Height Surveys and Building Safety Act related reporting \n
- Acting as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations \n
- Overseeing major works and remediation projects \n
- Preparing Schedules of Dilapidations and negotiating claims \n
- Driving business development and supporting recruitment of junior staff and APC candidates \n
You will work in a hybrid way, balancing leadership, client engagement, site inspections and office collaboration.
\n\nWHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
\nThis role suits someone who:

- Is MRICS qualified with 5+ years PQE \n
- Has experience leading or managing a surveying team \n
- Is commercially minded and motivated by growth \n
- Has strong technical knowledge across construction and building pathology \n
- Is confident developing and maintaining client relationships \n
- Holds a full clean UK driving licence and can travel as required \n
EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS

- Experience within residential property management \n
- Experience acting as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations \n
- Experience delivering Building Safety Act and Higher Risk Building instructions \n
- Experience monitoring major remediation or compliance projects \n
- Strong client facing communication skills \n
- Experience mentoring APC candidates \n
- AutoCAD capability is advantageous \n
