Job Description
Service Desk Engineer - Data Centre - Shift based role - 12 Hour Shifts, 4 days on/4days off - alternate night and day shifts.
\nc£51,000 plus £6500 shift allowance, travel allowance, bonus, pension, healthcare and other great benefits.
\nWe are looking for a Data Centre Service Desk Engineer to take responsibility for ensuring, during shift hours, that customers’ Incidents\Events and/or Requests are processed in accordance with industry standards and brought to a successful resolution within agreed Service Levels at both London sites. Provide a value-added service to customers.
\nMAIN DUTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT RESTRICTED TO:
\n- \n
- Receive and act on all customer Incidents\Events\Request notifications \n
- Incident Management – Prioritises and diagnoses, investigates incidents according to agreed procedures. \n
- Incident Management – Facilitates recovery, following resolution of Incidents, documents and closes resolved Incidents, Events and/or Requests via agreed procedures. \n
- Implementation of agreed IT Infrastructure changes and following maintenance routines \n
- Network Support – Uses Network Management tools where applicable to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics, and create reports \n
- Customer Service - Liaise with customers regarding fault correction progress and circuit installations \n
- Maintain customer equipment manuals, network drawings and circuit databases accurately and efficiently. \n
- Install telecomms cabinets and cable installations in addition to installing and configuring customer equipment. \n
- Responsible for security of FM areas. \n
- Facilities Management – Monitor’s compliance against agreed processes and investigates, assesses, and resolves incidents of non-compliance, escalating where necessary. Carries our routine audit checks to ensure adherence to the policies and procedures. \n
Qualifications and Experience:
\n- \n
- Educated to Btec National Experience level (minimum) in telecoms (preferably), or IT. \n
- Sound knowledge of wide area networking and all associated protocols to perform sectionalisation and testing. \n
- Good understanding of Fibre and Copper interfaces. \n
- Ability to conduct fault isolation and fault finding \n
- Ability to complete rack installations of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers. \n
- Good understanding of Microsoft and Linux O/S and associated products. \n
- Fibre Optic Testing & Safe Working Practices \n
- CompTIA A+ Certificate or Similar \n
