Geotechnical Construction Manager

Job Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage specialized geotechnical construction projects from planning through completion.

  • Oversee foundation support, ground stabilization, earth retention, and subsurface remediation projects.

  • Prepare project estimates, budgets, schedules, and manpower plans.

  • Lead and supervise field crews, drillers, equipment operators, and technicians.

  • Conduct field visits and provide technical direction during construction.

  • Coordinate with engineers, clients, and project stakeholders.

  • Ensure installation of micropiles, helical piles, soil nails, tiebacks, grouting systems, and other geotechnical elements according to specifications.

  • Monitor project schedules, equipment utilization, and daily operations.

  • Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections.

  • Maintain project documentation, logs, and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable safety regulations.

  • Resolve field issues while maintaining productivity, quality, and profitability.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive geotechnical construction management experience.

  • Hands-on field experience in geotechnical construction is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.

  • Experience with construction estimating and engineering design.

  • Strong knowledge of deep foundations, ground improvement, shoring systems, and geotechnical construction methods.

  • Experience interpreting structural drawings and geotechnical reports.

  • Familiarity with heavy drilling equipment and specialized construction machinery.

  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.

  • OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER, PMP, or other construction safety certifications preferred.

  • Ability to pass medical and physical fitness requirements.
