Overview:The primary focus of this role is to assess and provide treatment for patients experiencing physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate patients' capabilities to safely and effectively carry out daily living activities.
- Develop a tailored care plan that specifies the type and frequency of treatments required.
- Execute the treatment plan utilizing appropriate methods and document patient progress.
- Continuously monitor and adjust the care plan as necessary, seeking consultation when needed.
- Educate patients and their families or caregivers about identified deficits.
- Assist in planning and facilitating patient discharge from therapy services, including guidance on selecting and using adaptive equipment and support programs.
- Supervise care provided by designated personnel in accordance with established regulations and standards.
- Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field, as required for licensure in the state of practice.
- Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
- Regularly required to stand.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Engage in frequent oral communication, requiring the use of hearing and speech.
- Utilize hearing to identify body sounds and detect alarms or malfunctioning equipment.
- Regularly use vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
- Frequent activities include walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, climb, kneel, sit, squat, twist, and perform repetitive movements with legs and arms.
- Occasional lifting or moving of patients and objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional driving may be required.
- Rarely involves crawling.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.
- State-specific Occupational Therapist licensure is required for practice in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.
