Unit Overview

The Oncology Unit consists of twenty-eight beds, focusing primarily on the care of adult cancer patients who require inpatient treatments. This unit operates 24/7, accommodating both inpatient hospice needs and Oncology Medical-Surgical Telemetry requirements.

Position Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as part of an interdisciplinary team, which includes both licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This team ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. The clinical environment is managed by Nurse Managers and supported by our Shared Governance Model. All RN competencies are aligned with these frameworks and reflect our organizational values.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
• Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that considers specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) while respecting cultural diversity.
• Conduct bedside shift reports to keep patients and their significant others informed, ensuring that patient goals are central to the care plan.
• Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model.
• Foster teamwork and collaboration, practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
• Engage in performance improvement initiatives, research, and the utilization of findings to enhance patient care quality.
• Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nursing professionals and students, ensuring a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
• Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement within the nursing field.
• Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal and regulatory standards.
• Participate in data collection and contribute to the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, complying with all organizational standards and codes of conduct.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current RN license (Single State or Multi-State Compact).
• Less than 1 year of experience preferred; completion of an accredited nursing program with required clinical hours is necessary.
