The Senior Service Technician is responsible for advanced vehicle diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance across diesel, gasoline, and emerging electric vehicle (EV) systems. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with complex diagnostic analysis to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality repairs.

Key Responsibilities1. Vehicle Diagnostics & Repairs (70%)\n
    \n
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic tools and software
  • \n
  • Perform timely, accurate repairs based on diagnostic findings
  • \n
  • Service diesel and gasoline engines, including engine systems and components
  • \n
  • Troubleshoot and repair brake systems (including air brakes), steering, suspension, and transmissions
  • \n
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and fault tree logic to resolve issues
  • \n
  • Install supplemental or auxiliary equipment on new or existing vehicles
  • \n
  • Communicate repair status, findings, and technical issues clearly with internal teams
  • \n
  • Collaborate with technicians and support teams to resolve complex technical concerns
  • \n
  • Participate in technical discussions, case studies, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • \n
  • Stay current with industry advancements in powertrain and vehicle technologies through ongoing training
  • \n

2. Shop Organization & Administrative Duties (20%)\n
    \n
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment (5S standards)
  • \n
  • Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, and findings in Repair Orders (ROs)
  • \n
  • Follow structured problem-solving methods (Complaint, Cause, Corrective Action)
  • \n
  • Adhere to safety standards and actively contribute to safety improvements
  • \n
  • Support overall shop efficiency and workflow organization
  • \n

3. Electric Vehicle (EV) Diagnostics & Repair (10%)\n
    \n
  • Apply existing mechanical and electrical knowledge to EV systems and components
  • \n
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing EV performance issues
  • \n
  • Learn and support EV systems, including charging interfaces and operational behavior
  • \n
  • Participate in ongoing EV training and skill development
  • \n

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Fundamental heavy-duty vehicle knowledge with hands-on experience

  • \n

    Working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines

  • \n
  • \n

    Diagnostic and repair experience across engine, air, brake, and transmission systems

  • \n
  • \n

    Ability to use electronic diagnostic tools, equipment, and supporting software

  • \n
  • \n

    Ability to read and follow written instructions, fault trees, wiring diagrams, and theories of operation

  • \n
  • \n

    Strong attention to detail and time management skills

  • \n
  • \n

    Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team

Preferred Qualifications

    Engine and system accreditations (ASE, OEM, or manufacturer-specific) — preferred, not required

    Experience with steering and suspension diagnosis and repair

    Electrical troubleshooting experience

  • \n

    Exposure to electric vehicles (EVs), including high-voltage systems or charger interfaces

  • \n
  • \n

    Experience installing supplemental or aftermarket equipment on new vehicles

  • \n
  • \n

    Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods (e.g., Complaint/Cause/Correction or similar)
