Position Overview

The role involves conducting computerized tomographic (CT) procedures aimed at diagnosing diseases and injuries, adhering to protocols set by radiologists. Please note that this position does not include performing biopsy procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients accurately while selecting appropriate anatomical and technical parameters.
  • Administer contrast media and/or medications in compliance with established practices and relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor patients during procedures, reporting any unusual activity, and suggest updates to protocols as necessary.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
  • Completion of a program in Radiology Technology, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy.
Experience
  • No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Frequent use of vision for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
  • Regularly communicate verbally, requiring good hearing and speech.
  • Ability to hear body sounds and alarms, as well as detect malfunctioning equipment.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regularly assist in moving patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
  • Occasional lifting of items weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional visual tasks requiring color differentiation.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of legs and arms.
  • Rarely required to kneel or sit.
Licensure and Certifications

Depending on the state of employment, the following certifications are required:

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • ARRT-R Radiography, ARRT-T Radiation Therapy, or ARRT-N Nuclear Medicine Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • ARRT-CT Computed Tomography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Computed Tomography (CT) Credential - NMTCB
  • Radiologic Technologists - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) or Temporary Accreditation - IEMA
