BJC Medical Group is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatrician to join a growing pediatric program at Alton Memorial Hospital, a community-focused hospital just minutes from St. Louis.

This is a unique opportunity to join a practice in growth mode. A newly renovated pediatric suite is being developed in Medical Office Building B, creating a modern, efficient environment designed to support patients, families, and providers. Two experienced Pediatricians have recently committed to the practice, including one physician who will serve as both Pediatrician and Chief Medical Officer of Alton Memorial Hospital, reflecting a significant investment in the future of pediatric care. Alton Memorial Hospital is part of BJC HealthCare and maintains academic affiliations with Washington University School of Medicine, offering physicians access to nationally recognized specialists, research, educational resources, and a broad referral network. Clinical Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Full-spectrum outpatient pediatrics

  • Newborn rounding required

  • Inpatient pediatric responsibilities as appropriate

  • Must be comfortable working alongside and supporting Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

Call Schedule\n
    \n
  • 1:4 shared call rotation
  • \n
  • One weekend call assignment every fourth weekend
  • \n
  • Monday through Thursday after-hours calls are notification based
  • \n
  • Patients must be rounded on the next business day (within 24 hours)
  • \n
  • Weekend call physician rounds on their patients and partner patients
  • \n

Compensation & BenefitsGuaranteed Starting Salary\n

Starting salary from $275,000+

\n

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, practice history, and anticipated productivity. Practicing physicians with demonstrated productivity may qualify for higher starting compensation.

  • Resident/Fellow Stipend: $2,000 per month (if applicable)

Following the initial guarantee period, providers transition to a wRVU-based compensation model, offering substantial upside for motivated physicians.

Role Purpose

\n

The physician will provide professional medical services within the practicing Specialty to the best of physicians ability through direct patient care and spend additional time as necessary to perform other related duties such as completing medical records, providing MyChart consultations and inbasket management, conducting patient-specific education and collaborating with advanced practice providers and care team members.

\n

Responsibilities

\n
  • Manages the medical care of patient panel by providing or otherwise arranging for inpatient hospital care of physicians patients, either through regular hospital rounds, making arrangements with one or more hospitalist(s) or other qualified physician to provide coverage for physicians hospitalized patients consistent with Medical Staff requirements.
  • \n
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and members of the care team to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at the clinic location(s) designated by BJC and any other BJC clinical outreach location to which physician may be assigned as patient care demands.
  • \n
  • Performs and documents medical histories and physicals in the patients medical record as required by hospital medical staff bylaws.
  • \n
  • Provides or arranges for call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient call coverage in a manner acceptable to BJC and in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws, while observing and following all BJC policies and procedures and all applicable legal, ethical and professional standards.
  • \n
  • Collaborates and teaches advanced practice providers, support staff or any care team member assigned in the care of physicians patient panel.
  • \n
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
