Kern County provides physicians and their families with some of the most affordable housing options in the region, alongside access to several of California's premier natural attractions. It is the nearest area to renowned outdoor experiences such as Yosemite, King's Canyon, Sequoia, and Death Valley National Parks. The city of Bakersfield is a hidden treasure, featuring groves of mature trees, spacious streets, and beautiful homes, all without the usual Southern California traffic congestion.
Working HereKern County stands out within our organization. With its small-town charm and less urban atmosphere, there is a genuine sense of community and belonging. It is the only medical center within our organization that can convene as a unified group simultaneously. The smaller size of our area promotes open communication at all levels, giving physicians a voice and facilitating ongoing improvements, both minor and significant. Physicians benefit from the stability and support of the Permanente system while enjoying the atmosphere of a smaller medical group. New team members are swiftly integrated into the system, enhancing their learning and support experience. This welcoming culture extends beyond the medical center, as physicians’ families actively engage in social events and local cultural activities.
