Job Overview
  • Start date: September 1, 2026, continuing until the facility is fully staffed
  • Minimum requirement: 5 shifts per month
  • Shifts are 12 hours long:
    • Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Credentialing process: Approximately 3 to 6 weeks
  • The facility may provide assistance with emergency privileges
  • Location: San Jose, CA 95124
  • Work environment: Inpatient setting
  • Hospital capacity: 329 staffed beds
  • Trauma designation: Not a trauma center
  • ICU beds available: 40
  • ICU model: Open ICU functioning as a closed unit, with intensivists as admitting physicians
  • Coverage model: Physician-only, without APP support
  • Locum physician will operate independently
  • Average daily patient load per provider:
    • Days: Approximately 12 patients
    • Nights: Approximately 15 to 19 patients
  • Average admissions per shift:
    • Days: Approximately 3
    • Nights: Approximately 3 to 5
  • Patient population in ICU: Mixed, including medical/surgical, neurological, cardiovascular, and cardiac cases
  • Required procedures: Intubations, central lines, arterial lines, hemodialysis catheters, chest tubes, and ECMO
  • Provider must respond to codes
  • Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
  • Certifications required: ACLS and BLS
  • Preferred experience: Two or more years in Critical Care, though not mandatory
  • Board-eligible physicians may be considered
  • Providers with closed malpractice cases will not be accepted
  • Providers residing within 60 miles of the facility may not be considered
  • Travel arrangements and credentialing assistance available, with malpractice coverage provided
