Locum Tenens - Obstetrics and Gynecology - Washington-234426
Job Description
Specialty: Obstetrics and Gynecology
Location: Richland, WA
Summary: Our organization is in search of skilled, board-certified OB/GYN physicians for a long-term locum assignment to support an expanding women's health program. Given the integrated nature of our practice, we are particularly interested in candidates who can provide coverage across various care environments, including outpatient clinics, hospital operating rooms, ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), and limited backup hospital call duties.
Practice SettingProviders will be part of a dynamic OB/GYN team that includes OB/GYN physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and certified nurse midwives. Physicians should be adept at offering consultation, support, and clinical guidance for complex cases managed by APPs and midwives. In addition to patient care, physicians will also serve as experienced clinical resources and mentors for newer team members. Procedural proctoring is not a requirement.
Core Coverage RequirementsThe ideal candidate should be able to support at least two of the following three areas:
- OB/GYN Clinic
- Surgical/OR Coverage (Hospital and/or ASC)
- Hospital Call Coverage
Preference will be given to those who can cover all three functions.
Schedule ExpectationsPreferred Commitment:
- Full-time coverage: 5 days per week, 4 weeks per month
- We will consider providers who can work a minimum of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off each month
- Candidates available for fewer than two weeks per month will not be considered
Typical Hours:
- Monday-Friday (clinic and surgery) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call coverage will be scheduled as 24-hour shifts.
- Guaranteed 8 hours per day (clinic and surgery)
- Overtime will apply after 40 hours per week (clinic and surgery)
A crucial aspect of this role is the flexibility of the provider. Schedules may vary weekly, and providers should be comfortable transitioning between:
- Outpatient clinic
- Hospital operating room
- Ambulatory surgery center (ASC)
Assignments may not follow a consistent pattern, requiring physicians to shift between clinic and procedural responsibilities based on patient volume.
Call RequirementsWhile the primary focus is on clinic and surgical coverage, we require a subset of locum physicians to participate in backup hospital call duties. Call expectations include:
- Low-volume backup call
- Average callback frequency of approximately two days per week
- Typical callback duration of 2-4 hours when activated
- Weekend backup call coverage needed
- Ability to leave scheduled clinic duties when necessary to support unexpected hospital coverage
We specialize in connecting healthcare facilities with physicians and advanced practitioners for both short- and long-term coverage needs. Our award-winning team offers flexibility, travel opportunities, and malpractice coverage, making it easier for clients to recruit high-quality talent. We have received multiple Best of Staffing® Awards for our services.
