Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, oversee the management of the shift and ensure the quality of care in your assigned area.
  • The Charge RN acts as a communication link, keeping the Nurse Manager and House Supervisor informed about significant events and unit needs. This role includes first-level supervision, patient assignments for each shift, and providing clinical support to nursing staff (e.g., managing patient loads, assisting with admissions and procedures, etc.) while addressing and resolving patient care challenges.
  • Assist in mentoring new team members and academic partners, and engage in the annual performance evaluation process. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Assess the needs of patients and their families, establish and prioritize patient goals, evaluate the delivery of care, and continuously update the care plan to address the biological, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and educational needs of patients and families.
  • Delegate care appropriately to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Comply with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in nursing
  • Active RN license in Kansas
  • BLS certification must be acquired within 14 days of hire or transfer into the position and before providing direct patient care
  • ACLS certification specific to the unit

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Preference for RNs with experience in a comparable healthcare environment
