Role Purpose:

Delivery drivers in the food and food service sector play an essential part in the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer orders arrive on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and fostering strong relationships with clients.

The CDL-A Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. This role involves delivering and unloading food and related products safely and punctually, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring accurate and timely communication. Teamwork is essential, and the driver will perform various duties as needed to support the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct all necessary safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip) and inspect the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and report any issues or required repairs.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies, reporting any safety hazards immediately.
  • Verify that the trailer is loaded and secured correctly; perform item counts and check customer invoices for accuracy. Complete all required paperwork related to freight in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are secured at all times. Handle damaged goods and customer returns appropriately, completing necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. Remove all equipment and trash from trailers as needed.
  • Maintain daily records and comply with hours of service regulations, following DOT, state, and company policies.
  • Uphold safety standards and follow guidelines for the proper handling of freight throughout the delivery process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all company policies and standards.

Required Qualifications:

Education:
• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience:
• 6 months to 1 year of commercial driving experience.
• Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
• Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
• Experience with handheld point-of-delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
• Background in customer service-related roles.
