Job Overview

The CT Technologist is responsible for executing a range of CAT Scan procedures, prioritizing patient care and ensuring the highest quality of service.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an A.M.A. accredited Radiography Education program.
  • ARRT or CRT certification and a valid New Jersey State License.
• Preferred:
  • Three years of experience in a hospital setting as a staff technologist, with the ability to work independently.

Scheduling Requirements

This position requires full-time night shifts from 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM at the Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, NJ. Responsibilities will also extend to University Hospital and the Plum St. Imaging Center, all connected via a bridge.

Essential Functions

• Position patients for scans as per established protocols.
• Accurately position anatomical areas as required by standard operating procedures.
• Prepare for procedures to ensure timely execution.
• Ensure all necessary equipment is available before starting examinations.
• Under a Radiologist's guidance, administer cleansing preparations and contrast agents.
• Implement proper radiation safety measures to protect patients and staff.
• Utilize protective apparel for reproductive organs when visualization is not necessary.
• Transfer and position patients appropriately to achieve desired imaging results as per physician instructions.
• Assist physicians during examinations.
• Demonstrate competency in administering IV contrast media, including venipuncture, as per radiology policies.
• Maintain sterile techniques to prevent contamination and manage supplies effectively.
• Recommend maintenance for equipment and troubleshoot issues as needed, keeping accurate maintenance logs.
• Ensure the examination room is stocked with necessary supplies and restock as required.
• Manage patient scheduling and ensure a smooth workflow, including contrast administration.
• Oversee quality control for CAT scan examinations.
• Utilize the computer system in accordance with standard operating procedures, including entering studies in RIS and HIS, and managing cases in PACS.
• Participate in required in-service training and educational opportunities.
• Explain procedures to patients and address any questions prior to starting.
• Complete all necessary documentation before submitting procedures for interpretation.
• Assist in training student technologists.
