Senior Staff Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in Arlington, VA. Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit support, and maintaining the integrity of financial data within Workday Financials. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger experience, advanced accounting knowledge, and hands-on experience working with Workday Financial Data Model (FDM) and Worktags. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations Perform month end, quarter end, and year end close activities Analyze financial results and investigate variances Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and schedules Prepare financial reports, supporting schedules, and management analysis Utilize Workday Financials and Workday FDM to ensure accurate transaction coding and financial reporting Review and troubleshoot Worktag assignments and financial data mapping within Workday Partner with department leaders to ensure proper accounting treatment of transactions Support process improvement initiatives and system enhancement projects Assist with implementation, testing, and optimization of accounting systems and reporting tools Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed Requirements: 5+ years as a Staff Accountant required Workday experience required - strongly preferred to have Workday FDM experience Customer accounting Workday experience would be ideal Public accounting experience is borderline required, but may have flexibility here Need to have a focus on full-cycle GL The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
