Position Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role within a collaborative team of both licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by our Professional Practice Model, along with evidence-based practices and research. All RN competencies are derived from these models and are aligned with our core values. It is essential that all RN Clinical Nurses hold a valid license, possess extensive knowledge, and adhere to the nursing standards as defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, while implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, the individual is expected to advocate for the patient’s voice, adhere to system policies, and support service excellence objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
  • Utilizes the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver clinical care based on evidence-based practices, employing analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
  • Delivers relationship-based, patient-centered care that aligns with specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions), adapting service delivery to acknowledge cultural diversity.
  • Engages with patients and significant others appropriately, utilizing methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring that patient goals are central to the care plan.
  • Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
• Teamwork and Collaboration:
  • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that supports the professional care delivery model, including diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation.
  • Exhibits teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Engages in performance improvement initiatives, involving all stakeholders, and supports research utilization to enhance patient care quality.
• Professional Development and Initiative:
  • Completes all required initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Acts as a preceptor or mentor for fellow nurses and other staff or students, ensuring a qualified future workforce and fostering a healthy work environment.
• Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
  • Advocates for evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, participating in value analysis for patient care product evaluation.
  • Complies with all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Engages in data collection and formulates relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
• Resources and Support:
  • Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Ensures efficient use of human and material resources.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Compliance with all organizational policies, work standards, and the code of conduct is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • All certifications must be obtained upon hire unless specified otherwise.
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT (Multi-state Compact).
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent certification.
• Experience:
  • Less than 1 year of experience required; completion of an accredited nursing program with requisite clinical hours.
• Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and effective patient care.
