Plant ManagerCirca £45,000EdinburghMC Technical Recruitment is currently looking to recruit a Plant Manager on behalf of a UK-based anaerobic digestion (AD) operations and maintenance specialist, to be based at their site in Haddington.This role will involve taking full responsibility for the daily operation and maintenance of a biogas plant. This is a genuinely hands-on leadership role — you'll be the senior person on-site, managing a small operational team while staying close to the process itself, and reporting directly to senior management. The plant operates 24/7, so some out-of-hours and shift work will be required.As a Plant Manager, you will be responsible for:Managing and developing a small team of plant operators and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvementDirecting and supervising maintenance contractors on-siteRunning regular safety training to maintain compliance with health and safety regulationsActing as the senior on-site presence, available for hands-on operational work when requiredMonitoring and optimising process conditions to maximise biogas production and energy output while maintaining system integrityCoordinating maintenance activities, including mechanical repairs, to minimise downtimeOverseeing inventory of equipment parts and supplies needed for ongoing plant operation and maintenanceDeveloping and maintaining plant procedures, operating manuals, and site documentationWorking with computer-controlled (SCADA) plant systems to manage day-to-day operationsOther duties as requiredTo be considered for this role you should have:A relevant technical qualification — ideally degree-level in chemical or mechanical engineering, or chemistryExperience managing or supervising process plant operations in a process industry or utility environmentStrong mechanical knowledge to understand complex equipment systems and support troubleshootingComfortable working with computer-controlled (SCADA) plant systemsStrong relationship-building skills — with contractors, clients, and regulators alikeSolid understanding of workplace Health & Safety and environmental regulations (further training provided)Direct experience in anaerobic digestion or biogas would be an advantage, though not essential — full training is givenExperience with environmental compliance and regulatory liaison would also be beneficialThis is an exciting opportunity to join a lean, hands-on operation with strong technical backing from a wider international groupThe offer:The package on offer for this role includesA salary up to £45,000 per annum depending on experiencePension SchemeHolidaysOther benefitsTo apply:If you are interested in this role please apply via the link below or contact Machaela at MC Technical Recruitment on 01489533030 / for a confidential chat.TPBN1_UKTJ
