Your new company A leading UK construction, development and property services organisation is seeking to appoint a Group Senior Internal Auditor (Operational & Projects) on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Operating across a broad portfolio of construction, fit-out, residential development and property services projects, the business is recognised for delivering high-quality projects while maintaining the highest standards of governance, risk management and operational excellence.This role offers a unique opportunity to join a well-established Group Internal Audit function and contribute to the ongoing development of assurance practices across a complex and diverse organisation.Your new role Reporting to the Group Head of Assurance, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive, risk-based internal audit programme across the Group. Working closely with senior stakeholders, business leaders and operational teams, you will provide independent assurance regarding the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes and governance arrangements.With a particular focus on operational and project-based audits within a construction and property services environment, you will evaluate the adequacy of divisional assurance activities and support the continued development of a robust risk and control culture throughout the business.Key responsibilities will include:Leading and delivering operational, commercial and project audits across multiple business units and functions.Planning and undertaking audit assignments, including risk assessment, fieldwork, testing and reporting.Assessing the effectiveness of key controls and identifying areas for improvement.Producing clear, comprehensive and high-quality audit reports with practical and value-adding recommendations.Presenting audit findings and recommendations to project teams, regional management and senior functional leaders.Monitoring and validating the implementation of agreed management actions.Supporting the development and execution of the Group's risk-based audit plan.Assisting with Audit Committee reporting, integrated assurance activities and ad hoc reviews.Contributing to the ongoing development of audit methodologies, systems, governance processes and assurance frameworks.Maintaining awareness of emerging risks, regulatory developments and best practice across the construction and capital projects sector.The role will involve regular travel to regional offices and live project locations throughout the United Kingdom.You will have a demonstrable track record of delivering internal audits within the construction, property services, infrastructure or major projects sector.You will also possess:Extensive experience of operational, project and commercial auditing.A strong understanding of risk management, internal control and governance frameworks within a complex organisation.Experience reviewing project delivery, operational processes and assurance activities.Excellent analytical, project management and report-writing capabilities.Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage credibly at all levels of the organisation.The confidence and professional judgement required to challenge constructively and influence positive change.A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.A degree in a construction-related discipline, such as Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a similar field, is desirable.
