Head of Accounting

A well-established, growing organisation is looking for a Head of Accounting to take full ownership of month-end reporting and lead a team of Management and Assistant Accountants. This isn't a maintenance role - you'll have a clear mandate to simplify, standardise and automate how the function operates, working closely with FP&A, Finance Business Partners and operational stakeholders to drive that change.

It's a strong step up for a qualified accountant who's ready to combine hands-on reporting ownership with genuine people leadership and process influence - with real autonomy to shape how the team works, not just execute what's already in place.

Day to day, you'll:

• Own the month-end close, keeping reporting accurate and on time
\n
• Manage core balance sheet and P&L areas - journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations - with clear commentary on key movements and risks
\n
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Management and Assistant Accountants
\n
• Strengthen financial controls, ensuring policies are consistently applied
\n
• Identify and deliver process improvements - simplification and automation are core to this role
\n

You'll need:

\n
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with strong technical accounting knowledge
\n
• Proven experience managing month-end close to deadline
\n
• Experience leading or mentoring a finance team
\n
• A track record of improving processes, controls or ways of working
\n
• Strong stakeholder management, advanced Excel, and solid ERP experience
\n
