Role Description
\nWe’re looking for an experienced Scenic Build and Workshop Specialist with a background in theatre, events, or exhibitions. You should have good skills in carpentry and metalwork, be familiar with CAD software (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD), and experience or an interest in CNC programming. You should be able interpret technical drawings and translate those into build materials and construction elements as part of production workflows. Strong communication, adaptability, and a proactive attitude are key, as is a commitment to health and safety.
\nA full UK driving licence (Category B) and experience with CNC machinery & Graphics are advantageous. You’ll be a team player, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
\nDuties & Responsibilities

- Run our small scenic workshop on a day to day basis to ensure timely and accurate construction of scenery for our events \n
- Coordinate with the Projects and Operations teams to understand scenic requirements for upcoming projects. \n
- Lead the fabrication, painting, assembly, and pre-event prep of scenic elements. \n
- Source materials and liaise with suppliers as needed. \n
- Supervise additional scenic freelancers during period of high demand, and raise capacity concerns to Head of Operations ahead of time \n
- Support on-site installation and dismantling on occasions (which may require out of hours work). \n
- Ensure quality control throughout all stages of scenic construction. \n
- Maintain scenic furniture, props, and equipment to high standards. \n
- Manage workshop stock levels, parts, and consumables. \n
- Maintain health and safety standards within the workshop by enforcing operational procedures, health and safety policies, and risk assessments. \n
- Manage workshop schedules to meet tight build deadlines. \n
- Assist the Warehouse team with the loading, unloading and handling of heavy/bulky equipment as required. \n
- Assist the Head of Operations in identifying opportunities for improvement in workshop layout, workflow, and operational efficiency. \n

Your Skills & Experience
\nRequired
\n- \n
- 2+ years experience in a theatre, events ,or exhibitions scenic workshop. \n
- Strong carpentry and metalwork skills. \n
- Used to working with technical CAD plans and drawings. \n
- Able to translate technical drawings into necessary construction elements and related bills of materials. \n
- Excellent attention to detail, with professional pride in a high standard of finish to all scenic work. \n
- Excellent organisational and time management skills. \n
- Good understanding of event-based health and safety. \n
- Team leadership skills. \n

Advantageous
\n- \n
- Previous experience in a theatre, events, or exhibitions scenic workshop at supervisor or manager level \n
- Experience with Vectorworks \n
- Experience wrapping theatre flats on a regular basis \n
- Experience with vinyl cutting and application \n
- Experience running CNC fabrication \n
- Experience running 3D printers \n
- Drivers license (Cat B) \n

Pay: £32,000 - £35,0000 (dependent on experience)
