Labourer

Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Labourer to join a leading organisation within the social housing sector, supporting repairs, maintenance and refurbishment teams across occupied and void residential properties throughout the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hardworking and reliable individual looking to secure long-term work, with the successful candidate initially joining on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent following a successful period.

The role involves assisting skilled tradespeople, carrying out general labouring duties and ensuring works are completed safely and efficiently across a varied property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting trades operatives with repairs and maintenance works.
\n
• Carrying out general labouring duties across occupied and void properties.
\n
• Loading and unloading materials, tools and equipment.
\n
• Maintaining clean and safe working areas.
\n
• Supporting property reinstatement and site preparation works.
\n
• Completing pre-start safety checks and risk assessments.
\n
• Reporting access issues, hazards and material requirements.
\n
• Using mobile technology and completing relevant job documentation.
\n
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety guidelines
\n

Requirements

To be considered, you will ideally have:

\n
• Previous experience working as a Labourer within construction, maintenance or social housing.
\n
• Asbestos Awareness Certificate.
\n
• Ability to support a variety of trade disciplines.
\n
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
\n
• Strong work ethic and reliable attitude.
\n
• Full UK Manual Driving Licence
\n

Desirable

\n
• Experience working within social housing maintenance.
\n
• PASMA qualification.
\n
• Abrasive Wheels training.
\n
• Ability to read basic construction drawings.
\n
• Experience supporting multi-trade repairs teams
\n
