Job Description
Post Room Assistant, North London, 4 weeks, Immediate start, £14.80 per hour + holiday pay, 8am – 6pm
\nWe are currently recruiting for a Post Room Assistant to join a North London university on an immediate-start, 4-week temporary assignment.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mail Room, Post Room or Office Support professional to join a busy university environment and provide efficient day-to-day support with incoming and outgoing post, deliveries, couriers and general administration.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Sort, scan and distribute incoming and outgoing post across the university \n
- Process and record tracked, signed-for and recorded deliveries \n
- Book and coordinate couriers, preparing parcels for collection and tracking deliveries \n
- Operate post-room equipment including franking machines, scanners and other relevant equipment \n
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections and other post-room activity \n
- Use Excel and internal systems for data entry and record keeping \n
- Respond professionally to queries from staff, students, visitors and couriers \n
- Support general office administration, filing and scanning as required \n
- Monitor stationery and post-room supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels \n
- Assist with general facilities and workplace support \n
- Follow university procedures relating to security, health & safety and the handling of confidential or sensitive correspondence \n
About You:
\nIdeally you will have previous experience in a post room, mail room, facilities, office support or similar administrative environment.
\nYou will be:
\n- \n
- Organised and reliable, with excellent attention to detail \n
- Comfortable working in a busy, hands-on environment \n
- Confident handling incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries \n
- Experienced in coordinating couriers and tracking consignments \n
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel \n
- Professional and customer-focused when dealing with staff, students and external contacts \n
- Able to prioritise tasks and work independently \n
- Available for an immediate start and able to commit to the full 4-week assignment \n
Previous experience within a university, corporate, professional services or public-sector environment would be advantageous.
