About the Role
\nOur client, a market-leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking a PLM Engineer with experience in Data migration to join our engineering team in Slough and take ownership of a major product data migration project.
\nThis is not a traditional IT or cloud-based Data Engineering role. The position is focused on the management, preparation, validation and migration of engineering and product data, including 3D CAD models, technical drawings, PDFs, Word documents and Excel files, into a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
\nYou will play a key role in transforming and organising legacy engineering data, ensuring it is accurate, structured and ready for migration into the company's PLM environment.
\nThis would suit someone with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Data, CAD, PLM, Product Data Management or Data Migration, who enjoys working with technical information and solving data quality and organisation problems.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Take ownership of the engineering data migration work package from assessment through to completion. \n
- Review and assess existing legacy product and engineering data. \n
- Extract, sort, organise and classify engineering data ready for migration. \n
- Clean, validate and quality-check data, identifying missing, duplicated or inconsistent information. \n
- Prepare 3D CAD models, technical drawings and associated engineering documentation for migration into the PLM system. \n
- Work closely with PLM and engineering teams across Safran sites to coordinate data transfer and migration activities. \n
- Ensure migrated data meets company standards and agreed data quality requirements. \n
- Identify opportunities to improve the way engineering data is structured, managed and maintained. \n
- Develop and document improved processes, procedures and working instructions. \n
- Support the introduction and training of tools and processes associated with the data migration project. \n
- Monitor project progress against agreed milestones and timescales. \n
- Report issues, risks and opportunities to the Engineering Manager and relevant stakeholders. \n
- Maintain project plans, dashboards and KPI reporting. \n
- Work collaboratively with engineering, PLM and other cross-functional teams. \n
- Support the implementation of best practice in engineering data management. \n

Essential Experience
\n- \n
- Experience working with engineering, manufacturing or product data with Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. \n
- Experience working with large volumes of structured or unstructured technical information. \n
- Experience of data cleansing, validation, organisation or migration. \n
- Good understanding of engineering documentation and technical data. \n
- Familiarity with CAD data, technical drawings or engineering documentation. \n
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets and databases.
\nAbility to work independently and take ownership of a defined work package.
\nGood communication and documentation skills.
\nDesirable Experience
\nExperience with one or more of the following would be advantageous:
\nPLM / PDM systems, such as 3DEXPERIENCE / ENOVIA, Siemens Teamcenter or PTC Windchill.
\nCAD databases or engineering document management systems.
\nCAD models and technical drawings.
\nEngineering change/configuration management.
\nData migration or legacy data transformation projects.
\nPower BI or other reporting tools.
\nScripting or automation to improve data management processes.
\nYou do not need to come from a traditional IT Data Engineering background. Candidates with strong mechanical/engineering data, CAD, PLM, PDM or product data experience are encouraged to apply.
