\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Application Engineer to join a well-established, innovative engineering and manufacturing business based in Lancashire.
\nWith a long-standing history and a global customer base, the company specialises in the design and manufacture of highly engineered components and systems for the automotive sector, supplying some of the world's leading performance and luxury vehicle manufacturers.
\nAs Application Engineer, you will bring design capability and provide technical support throughout the life cycle of new products, working closely with customers, engineering, projects, manufacturing, testing and quality teams to ensure successful product development and performance.
\nThe Role
\nYou will be responsible for supporting new application and product introductions, managing technical requirements and contributing to the design, validation and production launch of new products.
\nKey responsibilities will include:
\nWorking closely with customers to understand and manage technical requirements for specific applications.
\nProviding technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams.
\nEvaluating concept designs and selecting appropriate design solutions.
\nCreating component, sub-component and assembly 3D models and associated engineering drawings.
\nReviewing and approving drawings and technical reports.
\nCarrying out tolerance stack-up, RSS, statistical and capability analysis.
\nPreparing and coordinating in house tests based on customer specifications and technical data.
\nEnsuring test samples and fixtures are available in line with project timings.
\nProducing and reviewing test reports.
\nSupporting APQP and PPAP activities.
\nGenerating and reviewing DFMEA documentation with cross-functional teams.
\nSupporting the agreement of DVP&R requirements with customers and test engineers.
\nProviding FEA support for new product designs, including preparing models and running simulations for design optimisation and DOE activities.
\nLeading Engineering change requests in line with company process.
\nSupporting customers with technical meetings, problem solving and vehicle validation testing.
\nAbout You
\nThe successful candidate will ideally have:
\nHND or Degree in Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline.
\nExperience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment, ideally automotive.
\nStrong 3D CAD modelling experience, particularly Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
\nGood knowledge of engineering drawing standards and geometric tolerancing.
\nExperience with engineering change processes and documentation.
\nKnowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA and PFMEA.
\nUnderstanding of IATF 16949 quality standards.
\nStrong technical communication skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
\nA structured and analytical approach to engineering problem solving.
\nThe ability to work effectively across multiple departments and projects.
\nOn Offer
