Mechanical Installation & Service EngineerLocation: Ideally North West based candidates based within approximately 2 hours from Manchester will also be considered Basic Salary: Circa £40,000 Potential Earnings: Circa £70,000 per annum Benefits: Paid overtime at 1.5x, paid travel time and site allowances Travel: UK, Europe & WorldwideAre you a mechanically biased Field Service, Installation Engineer or Mechanical Fitter with experience installing industrial machinery or capital equipment?We are recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business with a strong order book and growing pipeline of installation projects.As part of this continued growth, they are looking to recruit multiple Mechanical Installation & Service Engineers to strengthen their existing field-based installation and aftermarket team.These are hands-on positions predominantly focused on the installation of machinery and equipment at customer sites throughout the UK and internationally.Approximately 80% of the role will involve installation work, with the remaining 20% covering aftermarket, service and maintenance activities.For engineers who enjoys site-based work, travelling and seeing projects through from installation to completion, this offers excellent earning potential alongside opportunities to progress into a supervisory or more senior engineering position.The RoleWorking as part of a close-knit engineering team, you will be involved in the mechanical installation of machinery and equipment at customer sites.Typical responsibilities will include:Installing and assembling industrial machinery and equipmentMechanical fitting and alignment of equipmentLifting, shifting and positioning machinery during installationsReading and interpreting mechanical and engineering drawingsUsing hand tools, power tools and installation equipmentSupporting complete machinery installation projectsAssisting with service, maintenance and aftermarket activitiesWorking alongside other engineers, contractors and customer personnelWorking safely and maintaining appropriate site standardsTravel & Working AwayThis is a genuine field-based role, so applicants must be comfortable with regular travel and extended periods working away from home.Projects can take place throughout the UK, Europe and worldwide.Some installations may require engineers to work away for approximately 3 weeks at a time before returning home.Larger installation projects can run for three to four months, potentially involving several separate trips to the customer site during the course of the project.Flexibility around travel, early starts and changing project requirements is therefore essential.What We're Looking ForYou will ideally have:Strong hands-on mechanical fitting and installation experienceExperience installing machinery, capital equipment or industrial equipmentGood practical mechanical skillsExperience working on customer or construction/installation sitesConfidence working with large pieces of machinery and equipmentThe ability to work effectively as part of an engineering teamGood organisation and attention to site paperwork, timesheets and expensesA flexible approach towards travel and working awayExperience installing material handling equipment, conveyors, production machinery, packaging equipment, processing equipment, automated machinery or other capital equipment would be particularly relevant.DesirableThe following would be advantageous but are not essential as training can be provided:Forklift licenceIPAF certificationThe PackageCirca £40,000 basic salaryOvertime paid at 1.5xPaid travel timeSite and travel allowancesPotential annual earnings circa £70,000, depending on overtime, travel and project activityCompany Pension, Life Assurance and other employee benefitsThe OpportunityThe business currently has a strong workload and healthy project pipeline, providing good long-term stability for the successful engineer.There is also genuine scope for progression, particularly for someone interested in developing into a Lead Engineer, Supervisor or more senior field-based position.This position would suit someone who is reliable, trustworthy, self-motivated and a strong team player, and who genuinely enjoys hands-on engineering, travelling and working on machinery installations.To find out more, apply today or contact SimWest Engineering Recruitment for a confidential discussion.TPBN1_UKTJ
