Location: Manchester / HybridSalary: £90,000 - £110,000 + benefits
\nA highly regarded specialist tax investigations practice is looking to appoint an experienced Tax Investigations Director to join its growing Manchester team.
\nThis is a senior opportunity for an established Tax Investigations professional who can combine strong technical expertise with a proven track record in external business development.
\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in managing complex HMRC investigations, developing client relationships and driving the continued growth of the practice.
The Opportunity\nYou will take a senior position within the business, managing a portfolio of complex and high-value tax investigations while also being responsible for developing new business and strengthening the firm's market presence.
\nKey responsibilities will include:

Leading and managing complex HMRC tax investigations and enquiries.

Hands-on experience handling COP8 and COP9 cases - essential.
\n - \n
Advising high-net-worth individuals, business owners and corporates on contentious tax matters.
\n - \n
Developing investigation strategies and managing cases through to resolution.
\n - \n
Leading negotiations and correspondence with HMRC.
\n - \n
Building and maintaining senior-level client relationships.
\n - \n
Generating new business through your own external network and relationships - essential.
\n - \n
Identifying and converting new business opportunities.
\n - \n
Developing relationships with professional introducers and referral partners.
\n - \n
Supporting the continued growth and development of the firm's Tax Investigations offering.

Providing leadership, technical guidance and mentoring to the wider team.
\n - \n
Working closely with senior stakeholders to shape the strategic direction of the practice.

We're looking for a commercially driven Tax Investigations professional with a strong technical background and demonstrable business development credentials.
\nYou will have:

Significant experience in Tax Investigations / Tax Disputes.
\n - \n
Proven hands-on experience handling both COP8 and COP9 cases - essential.
\n - \n
A demonstrable track record of winning external business - essential.
\n - \n
An established network of professional contacts, introducers and/or clients.
\n - \n
Strong experience managing complex HMRC enquiries and investigations.
\n - \n
Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
\n - \n
The credibility and commercial confidence to represent the firm externally.
\n - \n
Previous experience operating at Director level, or the capability and track record to step into a Director position.
\n
Ex-HMRC experience is highly desirable, particularly where combined with strong professional-services experience.
