We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.This is a site-based position covering our substation framework across South Wales & South West England.Want to come and be a part of it?What will you be doing?As a Principal Contractor Site Manager (M&E) , youll oversee major Substation works, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality execution from initial mobilisation through to successful handover. Day-to-day management of site operatives, subcontractors and site workDevelopment and implementation of Safety documentation including Construction Phase plans, site quality plans and Risk Assessments Method StatementsSensible Monitoring of site operatives and subcontractors regarding Health and Safety, Quality and EnvironmentIdentify training requirements for site personnelEnsure full compliance with all Morrison procedures and current legislationClient liaison whilst on site, including client auditsChairing weekly coordination meetingsProcurement of materialsPlanning and programming of current and future works, i.e. rolling programmesNotify the Construction/Project manager of possible variations and keep suitable contemporary recordsCompilation of documents and as-built drawings for Handover filesIf youre passionate about driving teams, raising standards, and making a lasting contribution to critical national projects, wed love to hear from you!What youll bring Extensive knowledge of construction methodologies within the Electricity Transmission industryCompetency to work in Substations up to 400kV inclusiveKnowledge of NEC contracts with Cost / Value reporting exposureKnowledge of current legislation relating to Health, Safety and EnvironmentSkilled in organising resources and establishing prioritiesAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to work within budget and to programme timescalesAbility to work within a team environment including clients, designers, H&S Advisers, site staff, quantity surveyors and estimatorsIT literate, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word and ExcelFull UK driving licence must be prepared to travel across sites and work away where requiredDesirable Qualified to a suitable level in Construction, Mechanical Engineering or an Electrical Engineering disciplinePrevious or current authorisation to National Grid TP 137.11, which includes requirements for the following;Understand the causes and consequences of Impressed Voltage IV awareness certificate or equivalentUnderstand the requirements of relevant UK Health and Safety legislation, and in particular CDM Regulations.CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme/ NEBOSH General or construction certificate/IOSH Managing Safety CertificateUnderstand the general requirements of BS5975:2008 concerning procedural control of Temporary Works.
