\nWere currently recruiting for an experienced HR Consultant specialising in Job Evaluation to join a major public sector organisation in Bristol on a permanent basis.
\nThis is a brand-new role within the organisation and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to play a key role in shaping fair, consistent and effective people practices.
\nThe Role
\nAs an HR Consultant, youll provide specialist HR advice and guidance across a broad range of employee relations, policy and organisational matters, with a particular focus on Job Evaluation.
\nYoull work closely with managers, HR colleagues, senior stakeholders and trade union representatives to ensure employment practices are fair, consistent, legally compliant and aligned with organisational objectives.
\nA key part of the role will be leading and supporting job evaluation activity, advising on role design and grading outcomes, and contributing to the ongoing development and maintenance of job evaluation frameworks.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nLead and support Job Evaluation activity, ensuring roles are assessed fairly and consistently.
\nAdvise managers on role design, grading outcomes and job evaluation processes.
\nSupport the maintenance and development of job evaluation frameworks, guidance and documentation.
\nUse workforce and role data to inform pay, grading and organisational decisions.
\nProvide expert advice on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and restructuring cases.
\nSupport TUPE transfers, internal appeals, conflict resolution and other complex HR processes.
\nConduct thorough and impartial investigations where required.
\nDevelop and review HR policies and procedures in line with employment legislation and best practice.
\nWork collaboratively with senior HR colleagues, managers and trade unions to develop practical and effective solutions.
\nAnalyse HR data and workforce information to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
\nSupport organisational projects relating to workforce culture, working practices and organisational change.
\nProvide coaching and guidance to managers to build confidence and capability in people management.
\nEnsure equality, diversity and inclusion considerations are embedded throughout HR practice.
\nAbout You
\nWere looking for an experienced HR professional who can demonstrate:
\nSignificant HR experience within a local authority environment essential.
\nProven experience of NJC / GLP Job Evaluation essential.
\nStrong experience advising independently on complex employee relations matters.
\nExperience across areas such as disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, restructuring, TUPE and investigations.
\nStrong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
\nExperience of Job Evaluation, grading and role assessment within a public sector environment.
\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
\nThe confidence to challenge constructively and influence managers and senior stakeholders.
\nStrong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
\nThe ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with professionalism.
\nA proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.
\nA strong understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion within HR practice.
\nCIPD Chartered Membership, or demonstrable equivalent experience, knowledge and skills with a commitment to achieving Chartered status.
\nGood working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other business applications.
\nWorking Arrangements
\nThis is a predominantly remote role, offering excellent flexibility.
\nYou should, however, be comfortable attending the Bristol office on occasion, potentially around once a week, with additional in-person team meetings taking place approximately 23 times per year. Other team meetings are held remotely.
\nCandidates based outside Bristol are welcome to apply, but you should be comfortable with the travel requirements and have a good understanding of the Bristol area.
