Commercial Manager – Construction Location: Cambridge / LondonSalary: £75,000 – £100,000 + Car AllowanceWorking Pattern: Hybrid – Office, Site & Home WorkingJob Type: PermanentAn established specialist construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to join its senior commercial team.This is a broad, hands-on commercial position taking responsibility for the financial and contractual management of technically complex construction projects from tender and contract negotiation through delivery to final account.The successful individual will work closely with the Commercial Director, Project Directors and wider delivery teams, taking ownership of commercial risk, procurement, cash flow, contract administration and project financial performance.Candidates should be based within practical travelling distance of Cambridge or London, with flexibility to work between the office, project sites and home.The Role As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for:Commercially managing projects from inception through to completionSupporting the Commercial Director with contractual and commercial mattersManaging commercial risks, opportunities and potential disallowed costsPreparing and presenting monthly CVRsManaging project cash flow and ensuring accurate forecastingPreparing and managing monthly valuations and applications for paymentManaging variations and change from tender stage through to final accountMaintaining accurate commercial and contractual project recordsManaging subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations and contra-chargesPreparing contractual correspondence and noticesSupporting contract negotiations and undertaking commercial risk reviewsManaging procurement budgets and supporting the purchase of complex manufactured itemsReviewing labour, prelim and project resource budgetsWorking closely with Project Directors and delivery teams to address programme and commercial issuesEnsuring financial and contractual obligations are understood across the project teamSupporting the continued development of commercial procedures and controlsWhat We're Looking For We are interested in speaking with experienced commercial professionals from a specialist contracting or construction background.You may currently be working as a:Commercial ManagerManaging Quantity SurveyorSenior Quantity SurveyorSenior Commercial ManagerYou should have:Strong commercial and contractual knowledgeExperience managing construction projects or specialist subcontract packagesStrong knowledge of JCT, NEC and bespoke contractsExperience with CVRs, forecasting and commercial reportingStrong variation, change-management and final-account experienceExperience managing subcontractors and supply-chain accountsExcellent negotiation and stakeholder-management skillsThe ability to understand technical and contractual informationStrong written English, particularly when preparing contractual correspondence and claimsThe ability to manage multiple projects and commercial prioritiesA full UK driving licenceA degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.Previous experience within façades, architectural glazing, curtain walling or another technically led specialist subcontracting environment would be particularly beneficial.What's on Offer? £75,000 – £100,000 basic salary, depending on experienceCar allowance on topHybrid working between office, site and homeSenior commercial responsibility across complex construction projectsDirect involvement with the Commercial Director and senior management teamOpportunity to influence commercial strategy and proceduresLong-term progression within an established specialist contractorThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional looking for greater responsibility within a specialist construction environment.Apply with an up-to-date CV for a confidential discussion.TPBN1_UKTJ
