Mechanical Technician (Fixed-Term Contract 2 Years) Oxfordshire

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician to join a busy engineering environment on a 2-year fixed-term contract. This hands-on role will involve supporting the installation, assembly, maintenance, and operation of a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment.

Working as part of a skilled team, you will contribute to the maintenance and development of essential infrastructure while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and reliability.

Key responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician:

  • Carry out mechanical assembly, installation, and maintenance activities.
  • \n
  • Support the operation and upkeep of plant and engineering equipment.
  • \n
  • Assist with equipment inspections, fault finding, and preventative maintenance.
  • \n
  • Work alongside engineers and technicians to support ongoing projects and equipment upgrades.
  • \n
  • Help prepare maintenance documentation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • \n
  • Maintain stock levels of spare parts and identify replacement components when required.
  • \n
  • Support health, safety, and quality procedures across all activities.
  • \n
  • Contribute to a variety of engineering projects as required.
  • \n

Essential requirements of the Mechanical Technician:

  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • \n
  • Experience carrying out mechanical assembly and maintenance work.
  • \n
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • \n
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • \n
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • \n
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • \n
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills.

Desirable skills of the Mechanical Technician:

  • Experience using workshop machinery and tools.
