Key Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities reflect the expectations for this position but are not exhaustive. Percentages are guidelines and may vary based on clinic needs as determined by the Hospital Director.

Veterinary Duties (80-90%)

• Perform responsibilities outlined in the Associate Veterinarian job description.
• Meet specific production goals as established in the hospital's annual planning.
• Maintain veterinary excellence by attending annual continuing education, striving for continuous improvement, and leading innovation within the veterinary team.

Medical Director Duties (10-20%)

• Consistently model medical excellence, setting the standard for high-quality medicine, client service, education, and efficiency.
• Foster excellent relationships with all doctors to enhance engagement, retention, and skill development.
• Oversee the veterinarians in the hospital, including regular performance discussions, reviews, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
• Conduct regular coaching sessions with the veterinary team to support their ongoing development.
• Assist the Practice Manager in creating doctor schedules to meet client needs for convenience and availability.
• Participate in the interview process for associate veterinarians and other staff as needed.
• Attend annual conferences and engage in networking events as appropriate.
• Participate in hospital staff and leadership meetings as necessary.
• Hold monthly meetings with hospital doctors to educate and lead the veterinary team on various topics.
• Promote a culture of teamwork and empowerment among all team members.
• Supervise internship, externship, and mentorship programs to ensure a positive experience for students and new graduates.
• Act as an ambassador for the hospital through community engagement.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and DEA regulations within the hospital.
• Support the Practice Manager in implementing MVP initiatives at the hospital level.
• Uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of our organization.
