AP/CP Pathologist – Hospital-Based Practice Dothan, AL We are seeking a Board-Certified AP/CP Pathologist to join our growing hospital-based practice in Dothan, Alabama. This position offers the autonomy of an independent hospital role with the strong backing of a collaborative, experienced pathology team. The position is based at a 300-bed hospital with a robust oncology program and high cancer case volume, providing exposure to a wide range of complex and challenging pathology cases. What You Will Do Sign out a wide range of anatomic pathology cases Provide frozen section coverage Oversee clinical laboratory operations and quality Collaborate with a dedicated onsite Pathologists' Assistant (majority of grossing performed by PA) Access remote digital pathology support and expert consultation Participate in tumor boards, hospital committees, and multidisciplinary meetings Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and hospital standards Case Volume & Practice Scope The practice supports a high-volume hospital laboratory, including approximately: 11,000 surgical pathology cases annually 2,700 cytology cases 800 blood smears 10 peripheral blood cases The hospital has a strong oncology program, resulting in a significant number of cancer and complex diagnostic cases across multiple subspecialties. What We Are Looking For Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) Subspecialty training preferred but not required, including but not limited to: Surgical Pathology Cytopathology Breast Pathology Lung Pathology Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology Genitourinary (GU) Pathology Eligibility for Alabama medical licensure Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to practice independently in a hospital-based setting Commitment to quality, compliance, and collaborative care
