OpenSource Data Platform Solution Engineer

Join a leading independent technology and services provider as an OpenSource Data Platform Solution Engineer.

Job Overview:Looking for a hands-on Solution Engineer / Architect to design and support large-scale cybersecurity data platforms using open-source technologies.

Location: Sheffield

Rate: A daily rate, in-scope IR35 £530 per day (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company).

Work Schedule: 3 days onsite/week

Team: Strategy and Governance, Cyber Sciences and Analytics, Cybersecurity

Key Responsibilities:

\n
• Design end-to-end technical solutions for cybersecurity applications
\n
• Work on large-scale (petabyte) data platforms
\n
• Create architecture documents (HLDs / LLDs)
\n
• Evaluate and standardise open-source technologies
\n
• Collaborate with engineering and governance teams
\n
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and regulatory standards
\n

Key Skills Required:

\n
• Experience in solution design / architecture
\n
• Strong background in big data tools (Spark, Airflow, Trino, etc.)
\n
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
\n
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles (IAM, encryption, secure design)
\n
• Ability to work hands-on when required (coding / troubleshooting)
\n
