About the clientMorgan Law are seeking an interim Principal Financial Accountant for a Local Authority in the London area.Accountabilities

\n
• Assisting and motivating a team delivering accounting, systems and capital finance activities
\n
• Maintaining robust financial controls and oversight of key financial processes
\n
• Providing clear, practical advice to senior Finance leaders in a rapidly changing public-sector environment
\n
• Supporting the timely preparation and production of the Council's Statement of Accounts
\n
• Building strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Council, Council entities and with the External Auditor
\n
• Providing technical advice and support to both finance and non-finance stakeholders across the Council
\n
• Maintaining control of the Council's Balance Sheet to ensure the on-going financial resilience of the Council
\n

Candidate Requirements

\n
• Qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) (E)
\n
• 5 years experience as a Financial Accountant in a local authority setting and a deep knowledge of statutory accounting requirements (E)
\n
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
\n
• Immediately available for work
