Overview
Under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer, the Physician will independently deliver primary healthcare services for our community health centers, while also undertaking related responsibilities as necessary. Key Responsibilities
The following duties, assigned by the Chief Medical Officer, may be modified based on the needs of patients and clinic services:
- Gather and assess a patient's health history, documenting findings accurately and systematically.
- Conduct physical assessments, distinguishing between normal and abnormal results.
- Provide routine physical exams, diagnostic services, and treatment for illnesses and emergencies.
- Uphold the highest standards of medical ethics consistently.
- Ensure quality care for all patients.
- Share on-call responsibilities with other medical staff as needed.
- Collect and document information regarding patients' medical histories.
- Evaluate patients to assess their overall physical condition.
- Order or perform various tests, analyses, and diagnostic imaging to inform patient care.
- Analyze test results and examination findings to diagnose conditions.
- Administer or prescribe appropriate treatments and medications.
- Immunize patients against communicable diseases through vaccinations.
- Advise patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention methods.
- Report births, deaths, and outbreaks of contagious diseases to relevant authorities.
- Refer patients to specialists for advanced treatment as necessary.
- Perform minor surgical procedures.
- Conduct physical exams for school admissions, job considerations, or insurance eligibility.
- Assist the Chief Medical Officer in formulating medical policies, assessing existing policies, and implementing necessary changes; design and evaluate educational programs for patients and staff.
- Share supervisory duties of nurse practitioners with the Clinical Director as required.
- Operate within the privileges and protocols established by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Participate in committees as requested by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including infection control regulations.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients across all age groups.
- Understand protocols related to domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and ensure confidentiality of communications involving patients, employees, and the organization.
- Engage in patient population management concerning clinical services, considering cultural diversity and local resources.
- Coordinate care by following up with patients post-hospital discharge, assisting with follow-up appointments, and gathering data from recent hospital admissions.
- Support self-management by building relationships with high-risk clients and anticipating their needs, referring to an RN when clinical judgment is needed.
- Enhance communication skills with all team members, advocating for patients and utilizing available resources to facilitate care. Collaborate with the Care Team to ensure patients receive appropriate services to achieve their goals.
- Participate in quality improvement processes, which may include meetings, data collection, and auditing charges, while utilizing Evidence-Based Practice guidelines for disease management.
Supervisory Duties
May oversee mid-level providers under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
- Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a residency program in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics is required.
- Board Certification or eligibility is mandatory.
- Ongoing education in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics through participation in medical societies is expected.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Must respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Mathematical Skills
Capability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret data presented in various formats, including bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Strong understanding of family-centered medicine principles and the ability to apply logical or scientific reasoning to a variety of practical and intellectual challenges.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Current, unrestricted, and valid Physician and Surgeon License or equivalent from the Medical Board of California.
- Board Certified or Eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics.
- Possession of a current, unrestricted DEA license, along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for Family Practice/Internal Medicine, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatrics, and Basic Life Support (BLS-C) certification for all specialties.
- Completion of an annual health examination, annual TB skin test clearance or biannual chest X-ray, and up-to-date immunizations for healthcare workers upon hire and annually thereafter.
