The Division of OB/GYN Generalist within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences is offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Professor of Clinical. This role involves clinical duties within the department, where the selected candidate will act as an attending physician focusing on the care and management of obstetric patients. Responsibilities will include inpatient attending duties at Jackson Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESMembers of the OB/GYN Generalists Division deliver comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to women, collaborating with allied health professionals, specialists, and subspecialists across both the University of Miami/UHealth and Jackson Health Systems.
The primary responsibilities include:
Engaging actively in the inpatient practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology at various facilities, including the University of Miami Kendall Medical Center, Desai Sethi Institute, Doral Commons, University of Miami Hospital, and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Contributing to the education and advancement of medical students, residents, and fellows in the OB/GYN field.
Creating and implementing comprehensive medical treatment plans that consider biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors.
Conducting thorough physical assessments of patients with respect and professionalism, and prescribing appropriate medical treatments and medications.
Collecting essential and accurate information through reviewing relevant records and interviewing patients, family members, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals. Reporting findings to the supervising physician and adhering to policy co-sign requirements.
Identifying and reporting hazardous conditions, equipment malfunctions, and deficiencies in supplies to the appropriate personnel.
Documenting all Quality Assurance (QA) incidents, including medication errors, to the responsible physician in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Taking initiative to enhance knowledge and skills by participating in continuing education opportunities.
Making informed decisions regarding interventions based on patient data, preferences, current scientific evidence, and clinical judgment.
Ensuring the confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Following university and departmental policies and procedures while safeguarding university resources.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in the relevant specialty is required.
Possession of an active Florida Medical License and DEA registration.
Credentialing is necessary.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants should possess an MD or DO and be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Must have or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

Members of the Generalist Division provide extensive obstetrical and gynecologic care to women, collaborating with allied health professionals, specialists, and subspecialists within both the University of Miami/UHealth and Jackson Health Systems. Specialty care encompasses areas such as uterine fibroids, sexual health, pelvic pain, vulvar abnormalities, family planning, preconception counseling, cervical dysplasia, and anal dysplasia. A strong dedication to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, along with conducting research, is essential for this role. Clinical investigations may cover a wide range of areas, including patient-oriented, translational, epidemiologic, behavioral, outcomes, implementation, or health services research.
Additionally, faculty members will have the chance for daily interaction and teaching with over 28 residents and medical students. All candidates should be committed to delivering high-quality patient care and exemplary education. The department consists of more than 30 faculty members and operates within the University of Miami/UHealth and Jackson Health Systems in Miami, which is conveniently located. Jackson Memorial Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital averages around 4,000 deliveries annually and features a level 3 NICU staffed by UHealth neonatologists. The Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial has been recognized by the Maternal Safety Foundation as an Accreta Center of Excellence and a VBAC Center of Excellence.
Additional Responsibilities:
Inpatient labor and delivery at Jackson Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
Required to cover 12-hour shifts on labor and delivery, totaling 12 shifts per month (6 day shifts and 6 night shifts, including 2 weekends).
Providing direct care to OB/GYN patients.
Consulting for hospitalized patients on the labor and delivery service.
Consulting for non-service unit patients via telephone.
Utilizing Cerner at Jackson Health for documentation and MobileCharge for billing purposes.
