Endovascular Neurology Faculty position at UPMC Altoona in PA

The Department of Neurology at our organization, in collaboration with a regional healthcare facility, is on the lookout for a faculty member to join the Division of Vascular Neurology. This role will focus on vascular and Endovascular Neurology at our facility, under the guidance of the Chair of Neurology and the Chief of Neurology and Director of Stroke. Candidates must have completed a minimum of one year in a vascular neurology fellowship and at least two years in a Neurointerventional fellowship. An MD or equivalent is required, along with board certification or eligibility in Neurology and Vascular Neurology, and the ability to secure an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.

About the Department of Neurology and the Vascular Neurology/Neurointerventional Division

• Our facility is a 400-bed regional healthcare system serving nearly 400,000 residents in central Pennsylvania.
• We are a Joint Commission certified stroke center and have been conducting Neurointerventional procedures since 2018.
• Clinical teaching opportunities are available on our campus, with regularly rotating medical students for their required Neurology Clerkship and Stroke/NIR electives from both Drexel and the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine.
• Our clinical services encompass outpatient clinics, inpatient Vascular Neurology services, and Neurointerventional services, with a separate Neurohospitalist service for general neurology consultations.
• Research at our facility includes funded clinical trials in stroke, aimed at providing our patient population with access to cutting-edge care, including drug and device trials.
• Research funding for clinical, basic, data science, and translational studies in our Neurology department has seen consistent growth, with over $25 million in research support received in FY25.
• The Department of Neurology has been awarded the NINDS UE5 grant to support research training for residents and fellows through the "Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuropathology Pittsburgh Research Education Plan (N3-PREP)" and is also part of the NINDS Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials (NeuroNEXT).
