Our organization is seeking a talented Heavy Duty Equipment - Shop Mechanic to join our team at the Jeffco location. Reporting directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the ideal candidate will handle the regular maintenance and repair of our Ready-Mix trucks while ensuring that our workshop remains safe and organized. Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems according to specifications and manuals.
  • Conduct visual inspections and listen to machinery to identify the causes of malfunctions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems effectively.
  • Communicate promptly and clearly with shop leadership regarding significant issues.
  • Operate mobile equipment, including service trucks, to retrieve malfunctioning vehicles.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance, including fueling, cleaning, tire and light inspections, and fluid checks on service vehicles.
  • Service pumps and motors as required.
  • Engage in welding, repair, and fabrication tasks.
  • Order parts necessary for repairs as needed.
  • Make service calls to other company facilities or job sites when required.
  • Assist in training fellow employees as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Primary Accountabilities

The main areas of focus include:

  • Effective Preventative Maintenance
  • Prompt Response to Maintenance Service Requests
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of mechanics related to truck and general maintenance.
  • Proficient in using power tools, welders, cutting torches, and various safety equipment.
  • Knowledge of proper maintenance procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols and special work permits.
  • Competent in using computer systems and software.
    • Experience with Allison transmissions, Davie 4, and ESA software is advantageous.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus.
  • Must provide personal tools up to ½ inch.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic is required.
  • Experience with concrete mixers is preferred.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel to various company locations may be necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands outlined here are representative of what an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

  • Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, including varying temperatures and precipitation.
  • Frequent use of hand-eye coordination, near vision, and hearing.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, reach, lift up to 50 lbs, carry up to 50 lbs, push, pull, and utilize both fine and gross motor skills.
  • Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smoke, gases, fumes, and aggregate materials.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include safety shoes above the ankle, safety vests, safety glasses, earplugs, and hard hats. Additional PPE may be necessary for specific tasks such as welding and repairs.
Salary Rate

$30 - $34 per hour based on experience
