Exciting opportunities await Special Education Teachers seeking a dynamic, contract role for the 2026–2027 school year! Several itinerant substitute positions are available to support unique specialized programs across multiple sites in Lehigh and Carbon counties. This assignment calls for adaptable educators ready to thrive in ever-changing environments, covering a variety of classrooms and student needs.

Assignment Details:

  • Contract runs tentatively August 10, 2026 – June 11, 2027, aligned with school calendars.
  • School-day work schedule, up to 35 hours per week, with hours varying by program assignment.
  • Candidates must reside within a 35-minute commute of assigned locations.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Active Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required for most roles).
  • Strong background working in special education classroom settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement IEP goals and deliver specialized instruction.
  • Expertise in classroom management and behavioral support techniques.
  • Previous experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including paraprofessionals and related service providers.
  • Flexibility to seamlessly transition across different classrooms and programs on short notice.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience or strong interest in one or more of the following: Autism programming/ABA strategies, emotional support and de-escalation, multi-disabilities education, behavioral health, or trauma-informed practices.
  • Prior experience in intermediate unit or highly specialized educational settings is valued.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an itinerant substitute, supporting classrooms in autism, emotional support, functional/MD, and behavioral health programs.
  • Provide individualized instruction and track student progress.
  • Fill short-term or extended classroom vacancies as needs arise.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and adaptive learning environment for students with a wide range of abilities and supports.
