Take your expertise in special education to a variety of classrooms for the 2026–2027 school year in Lehigh and Carbon Counties. This contract opportunity allows you to serve as an Itinerant Substitute Special Education Teacher, supporting specialized programs at multiple sites within approximately a 35-minute commute from your home. You'll play a vital role by filling vacancies, covering leaves, and adapting to a range of academic and behavioral needs across the region.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required or preferred depending on assignment)
  • Previous classroom teaching experience in special education settings
  • Demonstrated ability to implement IEP goals and deliver tailored instruction
  • Skilled in classroom management and effective behavioral strategies
  • Comfortable collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
  • Adaptability and flexibility to support a variety of classrooms and student populations

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in autism support, ABA strategies, or working within Enhanced Autism Programs
  • Experience in emotional support, trauma-informed practices, or crisis prevention
  • Support for students with significant disabilities, adapted curriculum, or life skills development
  • Previous work in IU or specialized school environments

Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as an itinerant substitute, seamlessly stepping into different specialized classrooms and programs as needed
  • Address a broad spectrum of academic, behavioral, communication, and developmental needs
  • Maintain compliance with IEPs and provide high-quality, individualized instruction
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions and support tools
  • Foster inclusive, supportive environments in every assignment
