Special Education Teacher in Helenwood, TN

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher for middle school students, supporting learners with diverse needs in a supportive and collaborative setting. This contract position begins as soon as possible or by early August for the upcoming school year, extending through late May.

Your role will be vital in providing targeted academic interventions in reading and math for students with Specific Learning Disabilities, Other-Health Impairments, and Language Impairments. You’ll also work alongside general education teachers, co-teaching to ensure students are fully included and supported in the classroom. Caseload size may vary between 12 and 22 students, depending on staffing, allowing for a more individualized approach.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Tennessee Special Education Teaching Certification (accepted endorsements: 144, 145, or 461)
• Experience working with middle school students preferred
• Knowledge of academic interventions and co-teaching models
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Passion for fostering growth in students with disabilities

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Deliver specialized instruction in reading and math
• Collaborate with general education staff and participate in co-teaching
• Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
• Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development
