Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting diverse student needs for the 2026–2027 school year! Special Education Teachers are sought for itinerant substitute positions in a range of specialized school programs throughout Lehigh and Carbon Counties. As part of a dedicated team, you’ll play a pivotal role by providing classroom support, covering vacancies, and ensuring continuity for programs including autism support, emotional support, and multiple disabilities settings. Assignments will vary and require a flexible, adaptive approach, as you’ll rotate through multiple sites within a reasonable commuting distance.

Key Qualifications:

  • Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required or preferred based on assignment)
  • Direct experience teaching in special education classrooms
  • Demonstrated skill in implementing IEP goals and delivering specialized instruction
  • Effective classroom management and strong behavioral support abilities
  • Collaborative mindset for working closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
  • Willingness and flexibility to adapt to multiple programs or classrooms, including autism support, emotional and behavioral support, and developmentally-focused instruction

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction and behavioral support based on program and student needs
  • Quickly adapt to rotations among assignments such as Autism Enhanced, Emotional Support, MDS Functional, and more
  • Implement trauma-informed, ABA, or crisis prevention strategies where appropriate
  • Create inclusive, supportive learning environments that foster student growth and development
  • Maintain detailed records, collaborate with team members, and uphold compliance standards

Assignments follow a traditional school-day schedule at 35 hours a week, spanning from August 10, 2026, to June 11, 2027. Candidates must live within approximately 35 minutes of assigned locations to ensure prompt support where needed.
